In this tutorial, we’ll take a deep dive into the insights tab on a facebook page.
What Insights Does Facebook Provide About Your Page Audience?
Let’s go over everything one by one.
- Actions on Page: The number of times your page’s call to action button was clicked in the given time range. This call to action button displays on the bottom-right corner of the cover photo.
- Page Views: The number of times your page was viewed in the given time range.
- Page Likes: The number of times your page was liked in the given time range.
- Reach: The number of people your page reached in the given time range.
- Post Engagements: The number of times your posts was liked, commented on or shared by people in the given time range.
- Messages: The percentage of messages that your page responded to and the average response time to messages.
- Videos: The number of times videos on your page was viewed for at least 3 seconds in the given time range.
Your 5 Most Recent Posts
You can check the performance of your 5 most recent posts. You can check the engagement these posts received reactions, comments or clicks. You also have to option to boost (promote using ads) these posts from here.
Pages To Watch
You can add your competitor pages and see how they are performing with respect to your page over the selected time range. You can compare the percentage increase in likes, the number of posts made and the engagement received.
You can create ads for your page in the promotions tab. We’ll get into ads on Facebook in much more detail later.
You can select any time span over which you would want to see your page likes.
- Total Page Likes as of Today: The graph on this page shows you the total number of page likes over a period of time.
- Net Likes: This graph is going to show you the organic likes, paid likes and unlikes you have received over the selected time period. It also shows you the net likes you have.
- Where Your Page Likes Happened: This graph gives you an idea of where your page likes happened. There are a number of ways a user could have likes your page, for example, through an ad or a widget on your website and so on.
- Post Reach: This graph gives you an idea of how many people your posts was served to organically as well as via paid advertisements.
- Reactions, Comments, and Shares: This graph gives you an overall idea as to how your page is performing in terms of engagement. Over time this will give you an idea of whether your content is working or is there something you need to change.
- Reactions: Likes and other ways in which users reach to your post. This will give you a feel of whether your posts are making people laugh, sad, angry and so on.
- Hide, Report as Spam and Unlikes: Check if your posts have been marked as spam or unliked your page. Bear in mind that these actions in time will decrease the reach of your page.
- Total Reach: This graph shows you the total reach of your page. This includes posts, mentions, check-ins or any other activity on your page.
- Total Views: Check the number of views your page receives on a daily basis. The people who are page you can check it by section
- Total People Who Viewed: This graph gives you an idea of the total number of people who are viewing your page. You can further dissect this data by sections (which section of you page are people viewing i.e. Home, Posts, Reviews, etc.), Age and Gender, Country, City, and Device.
- Top Sources: Check the top sources of traffic to your page.
Actions on Page
- Total Actions on Page: Get to know the number of time users clicked on your call to actions buttons like Getting Directions, Phone Number, Website Clicks, etc.
- People Who Clicked Action Button: Graph for the people who clicked on the action buttons. You can further dissect this by Age and Gender, Country, City, and Device.
In this section, you’ll find a graph for all the action buttons active on your page. For example, people who clicked to get directions, people who clicked to call, people who clicked to visit the website, etc.
- Days: This helps you understand which day of the week is your audience most active.
- Times: This graph divides the entire day and shows you at what point in the day is the day is your audience most active. So as you can see that your users are most active at around 8 PM in the evening it would make a lot of sense to decide to schedule all your posts at that time.
- All Posts Published: You can check out the post that the page has published and you can check out its reach, engagement and also promote specific posts directly from this panel.
If you have events on your page, the events tab will give you a lot of idea about the reach, engagement, tickets and the audience your events page reached. Must similar to the data you would see for your posts.
- Video Views: The total number of views your videos are receiving.
- 10-Second Views: The number of times your videos were viewed for 10 seconds or more.
- Top Videos: Check the top video content your page has produced. This is calculated based on videos that have the most number of views (Each view being of 3 seconds or more).
This tab gives you a wealth of information about the demography of people following your page or the people your page reached and engaged.
The demographic data includes gender, age, country, city, and language. Make sure you get an idea of your audience from here and know who you are creating content for.
This tab pinpoints your business address on the map and shows you some information about the facebook users active in the location (radius of 165-500 feet) around your business. This can particularly come in handy for brick-and-mortar stores.
- Busiest Times: Get to know and what day of the week and what time of the day your nearby audience is most active.
- Ad Performance: Check your high performing days to see when your ad is reaching the most number of people near your business.
- People Nearby: Check when people near your business are most active on an hourly or weekly basis.
- Demographics: The age, gender and home location of people near your business.
- Total Conversations: The total number of conversations you’ve had in the selected time span.
- Your Responsiveness: What percentage of people did you respond to and how quick were the responses.
- Deleted Conversations: The number and percentage of deleted conversations in the selected time span.
- Marked as Spam: The number and percentage of conversations marked as spam in the selected time span.
- Blocked Conversations: The number and percentage of blocked conversations in the selected time span.
